Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) or based on department needs; Every Other Holiday (EOH) rotating with regular staff
  • May need to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed
  • Must have experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • PALS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Certification
  • Ascension MOAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior)
  • Current RN License with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/Certificate Verification within 30 days prior to start

Required Training & Testing

  • Ascension Color Vision test (updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics; completed within a year of start, updated yearly)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, two attempts allowed)
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out (Epic training and test checklist with signed attestation)
  • Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
  • Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (completed onsite)
  • Ascension Nova StatStrip training (pre-hire modules)
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical skills, updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Positive PPD or Negative Chest X-Ray and annual TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) within required timeframes
  • Fit Test: Required annually (specific mask types for WI and MI)
  • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Professional Requirements

  • Resume/Profile submission
  • At least two professional references prior to first assignment
  • Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (within 30 days of first assignment, updated annually)
  • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
  • Education Verification within 90 days of start
  • Employment Verification for past 7 years
  • Confirmation of Assignment documentation
  • Driver’s License/State ID (must be current and valid)
  • Ascension Badge Photo (headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)

Additional Notes

  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience
  • Floating to other sites within 40 miles may be required based on department needs
  • Must be able to complete all onboarding and credentialing requirements prior to start
