Location: Long Island City, New York

Job Summary
Provide safe, competent, quality nursing care to patients in the Urology Unit, applying nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans, prioritize patient needs, and educate patients and caregivers.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Deliver care based on Relationship Centered Care and nursing process.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs using critical thinking.
- Integrate assessment and intervention skills in nursing care.
- Collaborate with healthcare team on care plans.
- Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and discharge planning.
- Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate professionally with patients, families, and care team members.
- Manage assignments within Modified Primary Nursing model.
Patient Experience
- Role model Relationship Centered Care practices (e.g., Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding).
- Respect patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Use evidence-based practices to improve patient care perceptions.
- Address patient/family concerns and escalate as needed.
- Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.
Quality and Safety
- Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrate clinical skills essential to quality and safety.
- Implement process improvement and evidence-based practices.
- Participate in peer and institutional reviews.
- Collaborate on quality improvement projects and nursing research.
- Follow high reliability principles to avoid high-risk behaviors.
- Escalate safety hazards per protocol.
- Document nursing practice to support quality initiatives.
Operations
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate supply and inventory management with leadership.
- Escalate resource deficits appropriately.
- Use patient-focused, cost-effective approaches to resource utilization.
- Document accurately and thoroughly per regulatory standards.
- Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.

- Support clinical colleagues, patients, families, and healthcare team.
- Advance clinical competence from novice to expert.
- Maintain a professional image and communicate with empathy and respect.
- Apply ethical principles in decision-making.

Requirements
- License: NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License required
- Certifications: BLS required
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years RN experience required
- 2 years med-surg or ambulatory care experience preferred
- Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Associate degree considered with relevant experience or active BSN matriculation
- Technical Skills: EPIC experience highly preferred
- Schedule: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
