Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Burlingame, California

Job Description

• Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
• Provide direct patient care, patient/family education, and manage transitions of care.
• Deliver holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
• Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers through effective communication.
• Work 4 shifts of 10 hours each, with various start times.
• Weekend work is required.

Requirements

• Licensure & Certifications:

  • California RN License
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in Orthopedics, Vascular, or Robotic Surgery
  • Scrub experience is required
  • CNOR certification preferred
• Shift: 4x10-hour shifts, various start times
• Weekend availability required

Background Checks & Compliance

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
• Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screening.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
• TB screening: Negative test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required).

Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS and BLS (AHA or ARC only) required.
• Additional certifications may be required depending on position (e.g., PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI).
• Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency.

Facility Specific Requirements

• Passport-style photo for badge.
• Review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, confidentiality agreement, vendor training, code of conduct, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
• TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
• Religious exemption forms available for PAPR use and certain vaccine requirements.

Work History & References

• Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps.
• Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
• 2 professional references required for clinical and acute care candidates.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Preferred CNOR certification but not mandatory.
• Scrub experience is mandatory.
