Job Description
- Position available at a medical/surgical unit.
- Assignment at a hospital campus in Wichita, Kansas.
Required Credentials & Onboarding Requirements
Licenses & Verification
- Current nursing license with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Driver’s License or State ID (must be current and match address on file).
Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association required).
- NIH Certification (Group A updated yearly; Groups B-F every 2 years).
- MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training.
Health & Immunizations
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite.
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Required with specific timing before start; annual TB questionnaire.
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and TB questionnaire.
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
Professional & Onboarding Requirements
- Resume/Profile submission required.
- At least two professional references required.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, Employment Verification, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days of assignment start; updated annually or after breaks in service.
- EPLS check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days.
- Employment verification for past 7 years; updated annually or after breaks in service.
- Completion of Ascension-specific onboarding modules and attestations including:
- Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score.
- EKG Exam with passing score of 80%.
- Cerner Test-Out with signed attestation.
- Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite).
- Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules.
- Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire).
- Badge photo (forward-facing, white or blue background, no filters).
- Skills Checklist for clinical specialty, updated annually.
- Confirmation of assignment documentation required at start and upon extension.
Optional Documents
- Unit Specific Checklist (uploaded by unit leader within a week).
- Positive PPD documentation (if applicable).
- Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment).
- Legal name change documentation.
This position requires thorough credentialing and compliance with Ascension Health’s onboarding and health requirements to ensure readiness and safety for patient care.
