Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory Care Practitioner - UP
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment
- Evaluate patient respiratory care results according to care plans
- Serve as a role model demonstrating clinical judgment, technical skills, and knowledge in respiratory care
- Prepare, test, and check respiratory therapy equipment for safe operation and routine service
- Report malfunctioning equipment
- Accurately document respiratory care in EMR, including flow sheets, care plans, and charges
- Complete assessments on ventilator patients and other respiratory care patients
- Recommend timely interventions and referrals as needed
- Record procedures, patient responses, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation
- Communicate adverse effects and compliance issues to Respiratory Care Practitioner and physicians
- Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy in inpatient units and Emergency Room
- Obtain and analyze arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases
- Assist with cleaning respiratory care equipment and stocking supplies
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois
- Respiratory Therapist experience, including at least 1 year and within the last year
- Respiratory Care Practitioner experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NBRC certification
- Trauma 1 certification
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
