Job Summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides routine and critical respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient respiratory care outcomes according to care plans.
• Administer and document routine respiratory therapy and medications.
• Set up, maintain, and document oxygen therapy, aerosol/humidity therapy, and ventilator therapy.
• Provide ventilator support and airway management across all age groups.
• Perform arterial and capillary blood gas analysis (with Medical Director approval).
• Participate in blood gas quality control and proficiency studies.
• May be trained in endotracheal intubation and arterial line insertion.
• May assume charge responsibilities.
• Complete assessments on ventilated patients and others receiving respiratory care.
• Accurately document care in the electronic medical record (EMR) and charge accordingly.
• Maintain and process respiratory equipment.
• Evaluate patients for respiratory therapy in inpatient units, Emergency Room, and ICUs.
• Participate in transport teams for NICU, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Assist with cleaning and stocking respiratory care equipment and supplies.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois (IL RCP License)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience within the last year
• Associate degree or certificate in Respiratory Therapy
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
