Job Opportunity: RN Step Down (Travel)

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH)
• Placement on unit with greatest need: PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry Acute Care
• Accepts Med-Surg or Stepdown RN credentials (same credentialing for both)
• Must be able to float onsite within skill set or to sites within 40 miles if needed
• Requires 2 years of experience in PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care

Required Qualifications

• License: Current RN license for Wisconsin
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in PCU / Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
• Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
• Completion of various Ascension-specific competencies and exams including:

  • Ascension Color Vision test
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.)
  • NIH Certification
  • Ascension EKG Exam
  • Ascension Epic Test-Out
  • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, updated annually)
• Health and Immunization Requirements:

  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer, no declinations)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or immunity proof, no declinations)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years, no declinations)
  • TB testing: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit Test (annual, specific mask types required)
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes
• Drug Screening:

  • 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
• Background and Verification Checks:

  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender
  • Employment and education verification
  • EPLS (Exclusionary Party List System) check within 90 days prior to start
• Other Requirements:

  • Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
  • Driver’s License/State ID (must be valid and match address requirements)
  • Professional references (at least two) prior to first assignment
  • Ascension onboarding education and contract worker onboarding completed prior to start

Additional Notes

• Must be able to pass all required tests and maintain certifications throughout assignment
• Floating to other units or nearby sites may be required based on staffing needs
• No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
