Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Rehab) - Pennsylvania, Hazleton

Position Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
  • Schedule: Every Other Weekend (Saturday/Sunday), Every Other Week (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Floating: Not required
  • Call: No call required

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • Preferred: Charge nurse experience
  • Required Clinical Experience:
    • Acute inpatient rehab
    • Blood glucose monitoring
    • Care and management of ports
  • Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Licensure & Certifications

  • Licensure: PA or Compact RN license required (must have in hand)
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA preferred
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - as applicable based on unit
    • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) - verify based on assignment specifics

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Comprehensive background checks covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County, State, Nationwide Criminal Search
    • Sex Offender Search
    • Education Verification
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM checks
  • Pennsylvania-specific requirements:
    • PA Child Abuse Search (within 90 days of start)
    • PA Department of Human Services Fingerprint Results (within 90 days of start)
    • PA PATCH and Medicheck Search Results
  • Fingerprinting required within 90 days of start (PA FBI Fingerprint Clearance)
  • Education verification for highest level of education related to specialty

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 2 months of start
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with specific timing requirements)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive antibody titer or completed vaccine series (declinations not accepted)
    • Hepatitis C titer required only for Operating Room and Dental specialties
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel or 9-panel (without THC) within 60 days of start
  • COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through May (declination allowed only with specific conditions)
  • Respirator medical clearance required annually for candidates starting 04/07/2025 and beyond

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (passing score 88%)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for RNs & LVNs (exceptions apply)
  • Other competency exams as applicable

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start
  • Complete employment application with 7 years of work history and explanations for gaps over 90 days
  • Signed acknowledgments for safety manuals and pass/fail testing
  • Facility-specific documents such as badge photo and provisional employment affidavit required prior to start
  • Fit Test Questionnaire required for all candidates (except 100% remote/non-clinical)

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of acute inpatient rehab experience, who hold a valid PA or Compact RN license, and are comfortable with a 13-week travel contract working 12.5-hour shifts with every other weekend coverage. First-time travelers are welcome. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and competency testing is mandatory.
