Job Opportunity: RN - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Specialty: Operating Room (OR)
- Shift: Days, 4x10 hour shifts (06:30 - 17:00)
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: As required by facility
- Call Requirements: Approximately 5 or fewer calls per 8 weeks
- Number of Openings: 1
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
- BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Level 1 or 2 Trauma (Teaching hospital experience considered)
- Experience as Scrub and OR Circulator
Preferred Qualifications
- Multiple years of Level 1 trauma experience
Unit & Patient Information
- Unit Type: Main Operating Room
- Number of Beds: Main 22, Ambulatory Surgery Center 8, Orthopedics 10
- Patient Ratios: 1:1
- Patient Types: Outpatient to critical care inpatient
- Equipment: Includes DaVinci robotic surgical system
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the time on duty
- Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
- Work typically in a clean, air-conditioned environment
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs., pinching up to 15 lbs., minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 to April 1 (declinations not accepted)
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter
- Dress code: Black scrubs; unprofessional attire such as jeans is not allowed
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
- Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality
- Follow nursing practice guidelines, Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and facility standards
Summary
This travel RN position in the Operating Room requires a minimum of 2 years trauma experience with scrub and circulator skills, a current Missouri RN license, and BLS certification. The role offers a 13-week contract with day shifts and some call responsibilities in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment using advanced surgical technology.
