Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Rehabilitation - Med/Surg (Nights)

Location: Windsor, Vermont
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a combined Rehabilitation Medical-Surgical setting, focusing on patients recovering from surgery, serious illness, or injury.
  • Provide intensive rehabilitation nursing care to restore patient function and independence through therapies (physical, occupational, speech) and specialized medical/nursing care.
  • May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
  • Coordinate total nursing care for patients and participate in patient and family teaching.
  • Provide leadership by collaborating with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel to maintain professional nursing standards.
  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
  • Average daily patient census: 22.
  • EMR system used: Cerner.
  • Must be willing to float between Acute Rehab and Med Surg units as needed (within scope of practice).
  • No block scheduling or schedule accommodations allowed.
  • Local travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible.
  • Must have own vehicle due to lack of public transportation in the community.
  • Orientation: 8 hours non-billable.

Required Qualifications

  • License: Valid Vermont RN license or Compact RN license.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years recent Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing experience.
    • Charge RN experience required.
    • Prior travel experience required (at least 3 months).
  • Certifications:
    • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
    • Current American Heart Association ACLS certification.
  • Supervisory signed reference from within the past two years of employment.
  • Strongly preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Additional Information

  • This is a small community hospital with 35 beds, including a 25-bed medical-surgical unit and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
  • The hospital is CARF accredited and recognized for excellence in community service.
  • Windsor, VT offers access to outdoor recreation and is within a 3-hour drive of Boston, Montreal, and New York.
  • Requested time off must be noted and verified before assignment start; no more than 5 days of time off allowed during the contract.
