Job Opportunity: Rehab RN (Registered Nurse)
Location: Kankakee, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Department: Rehab
- Unit Size: 30 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6-8 depending on acuity
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, 5:00 AM - 5:30 PM
- Scheduling: Team Lead/Manager builds schedule; block scheduling and flexibility accommodated
- Weekend/Holiday: Expected to work as needed
- Call/Standby: Standby required in case of low census and pending admissions
- Floating: May float to MedSurg unit
- Orientation: One 12-hour shift with preceptor
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
Patient Population & Care
- Patients from med surg/telemetry, post-op, cardiovascular surgery, falls, knee and back surgeries, strokes, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, some COVID post-acute conditioning
- Care includes PICC/Ports management
- No continuous telemetry monitoring on unit
- Nurse aids/techs assist with ADLs, vitals, and showers
- RT equipment: CPAP/BiPAP use supported with RT assistance
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Nurse (RN) license required in Illinois
- Certifications: BLS required; Rehab certification is a plus
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year inpatient acute Rehab experience (not SNF or LTACH)
- Previous travel experience highly preferred (prior travel experience not explicitly required but strongly favored)
- Skills: QIM experience preferred
- Other: Driver’s license required for submission
Additional Information
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Common titratable IVs include IVF, electrolytes, antibiotics, and blood
- Charge Nurse coverage: Team Lead during day until 11 PM; Charge nurse nights/weekends/holidays
- Facility requires clinical prescreen; if recommended, hiring manager responds within 24 hours without a second phone interview
This position is ideal for an RN with acute inpatient rehab experience looking for a 13-week contract in Illinois with a dynamic patient population and flexible scheduling.
