Job Opportunity: RN Med Surg Telemetry (Travel)
Location: Waco, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
- Coordinate care among all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
- Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
Required Qualifications
Licenses & Certifications
- Current RN license in Texas with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA required).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA required).
Specialty Requirements
- Specialty: RN Telemetry I / Med Surg Telemetry

- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire.
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days prior to start.
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or two vaccines; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to assignment and annually thereafter.
Background & Verification
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days of assignment.
- Employment verification for the past 7 years.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
- Drug screen: 12 panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
Additional Information
- Must complete onboarding requirements including various Ascension-specific checklists and attestations.
- Resume/profile and at least two professional references required prior to assignment.
- Driver’s license or state ID must be current and valid.
