Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER)
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide emergency nursing care in a team environment
- Care for a wide range of patients of varied ages and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Shift: 3 x 12-hour evening shifts (1500-0300), every other weekend required
Required Qualifications
- Valid California RN License
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Emergency Department (ED) as a traveler preferred
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not explicitly required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, and education verification
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
- Education verification with official transcripts/diplomas as needed
- Sex offender search within 90 days of start
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual renewal)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (11/1-4/30) or signed declination
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually
- Negative drug test within 6 months of start
Certifications and Competencies
- ACLS, BLS, PALS (AHA or ARC only)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Additional certifications may be required based on position (e.g., CCRN, TNCC, NRP) – verify with employer
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required
Documentation and Compliance
- Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps
- Employment verification required for up to 7 years
- Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
- Must complete facility-specific documents including job description review, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter
- Personal or auto insurance only required for driving positions
Additional Notes
- Candidates with religious exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific exemption forms and receive approval
- Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete required training and documentation before starting
- ICU RNs at this facility may be required to take an EKG exam onsite after start
