Job Opportunity: RN - Med Surg (Travel)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical (Med Surg), Oncology, Neuro Surgical Recovery
- Shift: Nights (19:00 - 07:30)
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
- Call Requirements: None
- Number of Openings: 2
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience in an inpatient setting within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Unit & Patient Information
- Unit Type: General Surgery (GI, GU, Plastics, Overflow Orthopedics)
- Number of Beds: 30
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6-7 on night shift (not guaranteed)
- Equipment: Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo enteral feeding pumps, wound vacs, SCD machines, PCA pumps, low air loss mattresses, remote telemetry monitors
- EMR System: EPIC
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
- Utilize nursing process for patients post trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Ability to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
- Exposure to blood and body fluids
- Flexible scheduling may be required
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (no declinations accepted)
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required
- Dress code: Black scrubs (Mercy M Wear) only
