Job Opportunity: Nurse Manager, Med/Surg Units
Location: Northampton, Massachusetts

Job Description
The Nurse Manager is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the medical/surgical units and the Joint Center. This role involves organizing and directing nursing staff and programs to ensure effective nursing services and quality standards are met through a multidisciplinary team approach. The Nurse Manager supports professional nurses, patients, nursing students, and staff, holding 24/7 accountability for staff and students in the program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school (required)
- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
- Minimum of 5 years current clinical experience (higher end of 3-5 years range)
- Previous supervisory experience within Med/Surg units (required)
- Certification as a Clinical Nurse Leader or Nursing Administration (preferred)
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or matriculation (preferred)
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
- ACLS certification (required)
- Leadership skills and clinical competence, including proficiency in nursing and improvement processes
- Excellent interpersonal, team building, collaboration, negotiation, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit requirement for prior travel experience
Required Certifications and Health Requirements
- BLS (American Heart Association preferred)
- ACLS
- Current TB screening (skin test or blood test) within 3 months of start date, updated if >6 month break
- Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 15), no exemptions allowed
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
- Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity (strongly preferred)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
- N95 fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation (if fit test required)
- Physician health statement within 365 days of start date, updated if >6 month break
Background and Compliance Checks
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start date, updated if >6 month break
- Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start date, updated if >6 month break
- Social Security Number trace covering past 7 years
- National sex offender registry check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Exclusion checks against OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid lists within 30 days of start, updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Submission of a professional color photo (recent, plain background, no eyeglasses)
- Documentation of 2 references within 4 years, including at least 1 supervisor or above in skillset
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission
- Confirmation of assignment/POI form required for all initial assignments and extensions
