    Description

    Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Oncology

    Location: Los Alamitos, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Work Schedule

    • Night shift, Monday through Friday and weekends
    • 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
    • Approximately 36 hours per week

    Required Qualifications

    • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California
    • Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1 year in specialty or higher if specified elsewhere
    • Certifications:
      • BLS (Basic Life Support)
      • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required for ICU and Interventional Radiology specialties; verify if applicable
      • PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable to specialty (check unit-specific requirements)
      • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification required for ER and Behavioral Health RNs only
    • Continuing Education: CEUs within the last 24 months required, including certifications like PALS, TNCC, MAB (except BLS)
    • Competency Exams:
      • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
      • Unit-specific competency exam (e.g., ICU exam for Burn ICU and Interventional Radiology RNs)
      • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for Tele and MS/Tele RNs
      • Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens exam with minimum 80% passing score

    Experience Requirements

    • References: Two professional references within the last year from leadership (e.g., Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse) required
    • Work history verification for the past three years mandatory
    • Annual performance evaluation required if employed with the agency for 1 year or more

    Health and Safety Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
    • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year, updated annually (includes Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Opiates, PCP)
    • Immunizations and titers required or declination accepted for:
      • TB test (PPD, TSpot, or QGold) within 1 year
      • Hepatitis B series or declination (titer not accepted)
      • Hepatitis C titer strongly preferred; declination accepted with reason
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1
      • Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap or Pertussis titer if unable to receive vaccine
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required by December 5 (declination accepted with masking requirements)
    • COVID-19 vaccination documentation for current season or facility-specific declination with masking requirements
    • N95 mask fit testing within 1 year, renewed annually (PAPR documentation accepted if N95 fit test failed)

    Background and Compliance

    • Criminal background check within 1 year, updated annually (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, SS trace, federal)
    • Education verification and proof of graduation from accredited program
    • Signed HIPAA acknowledgment required
    • Signed facility-specific job description and orientation packets prior to start
    • Signed acknowledgment of pass/fail testing (medication calculation and arrhythmia recognition exam)
    • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and skills self-assessment (RNs and LVNs)
    • Signed confidentiality agreement and workplace violence prevention acknowledgment
    • Required facility-specific document acknowledgments including infection control, standard of care, and sexual violence/harassment policies
