Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN Step Down)

Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in a Step Down unit with patient ratios:
    • 3:1 ratio in Step Down
    • 5:1 ratio on day shift
    • 7:1 ratio on night shift
  • Responsibilities include:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • Pushing, pulling, lifting
    • Medication administration
    • Patient assessments
    • Developing and managing care plans
    • Effective communication and teamwork

Required Qualifications

  • License: Valid RN license for New York
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - AHA only
    • 8 hours of Stroke Training (including NHISS) required for certain units
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Completion of Arnot Skills Checklist for the unit
    • Passing Arnot Core Competency Exam (80% or higher)
  • Health & Safety Requirements:
    • COVID-19 vaccine or agency declination
    • MMR immunity (positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series)
    • Fit Test within last 12 months (specific mask models required)
    • Hepatitis B immunity or declination form
    • Influenza vaccine or declination form (mask required if declined)
    • TB testing within last 12 months (PPD or Quantiferon)
    • Varicella immunity (positive titer or 2 vaccine series)
    • Tdap vaccine preferred (within last 10 years) or declination form
    • Physical/Health Statement within last 12 months
  • Professional Requirements:
    • Valid US driver’s license or state ID (not expired)
    • Agency background check within 30 days (including criminal and FACIS checks)
    • Agency drug screen within 30 days (9+ panel)
    • Resume covering last 7 years of employment and education
    • Two professional references (one within last 12 months, one within last 3 years)
    • Employment verification and education verification as applicable
    • Completion of various Arnot-specific forms and acknowledgments (job description, code of conduct, sexual harassment, parking registration, etc.)

Cons

Generally speaking, Host Healthcare doesn't always have the highest rate on the market. Having gone with competing agencies in the past, I have often been disappointed and unsupported and ultimately found it wasn't worth the small pay bump
