Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Fountain Valley, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Shift Days: Sunday through Saturday (including weekends)
- Shift Hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
Certifications and Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) - AWHONN Advanced required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (as applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except certain specialties; Labor and Delivery RNs typically require it)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Unit-specific Competency Exams (including Infection Control/Bloodborne Pathogens)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification if working in ER or Behavioral Health (not typically required for Labor and Delivery)
- Signed HIPAA Acknowledgement
- Pass/Fail Testing: Medication/Calculation Exam and Arrhythmia Recognition Assessment (EKG exam) with minimum 80% passing score
Required Health and Background Documentation
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year, updated annually (includes Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Opiates, PCP)
- Negative TB test (PPD, TSpot, or QGold) within 1 year or negative chest x-ray if previously positive
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B series or declination (titer not accepted)
- Hepatitis C titer strongly preferred; declination accepted with reason
- Seasonal Flu vaccination required by December 5 (declination accepted with masking requirements)
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation for current season or signed declination; masking required if not vaccinated
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Criminal background check within 1 year, including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, SS trace, and federal searches (no international searches)
- Education verification and licensure primary source verification
References and Employment History
- Two professional references within 1 year from leadership (e.g., Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse)
- Verification of employment for the past 3 years required
- Annual performance evaluation if employed with Aya for 1 year or more
Orientation and Facility Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and acknowledgment forms prior to or on first day
- Skills self-assessment and job description acknowledgment required
- Review of facility policies including:
- Epidural Pain Policy
- Standard of Care: Skin Care
- Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy
- Workplace Violence Prevention in Healthcare (for Per Diem)
- Badge issuance and flu/COVID vaccine documentation submission required for badge tags and masking exemptions
