Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Med Surg Tele Unit
Location: Crescent City, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Provide direct nursing care for patients of all ages in the Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit. Responsibilities include:
- Managing care of assigned patients and directing ancillary staff activities
- Assessing patients' physiological and psychological needs comprehensively
- Planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans
- Demonstrating leadership skills, including charge nurse functions
- Using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- California RN License
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
- Various federal and state screenings including EPLS, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, and others as applicable
- Education verification (highest level achieved) required
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually
Additional Requirements
- Full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
- Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, telemetry unit competencies)
- Review and sign facility-specific documents including standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years required (Aya requirement)
