Job Description

Provide direct nursing care for patients of all ages in the Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit. Responsibilities include:

• Managing care of assigned patients and directing ancillary staff activities
• Assessing patients' physiological and psychological needs comprehensively
• Planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans
• Demonstrating leadership skills, including charge nurse functions
• Using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
• California RN License

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Medical-Surgical Telemetry nursing
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
• Various federal and state screenings including EPLS, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, and others as applicable
• Education verification (highest level achieved) required
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
• TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually

Additional Requirements

• Full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps
• Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
• Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, telemetry unit competencies)
• Review and sign facility-specific documents including standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years required (Aya requirement)

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced telemetry unit and demonstrate leadership skills
• Compliance with all health and safety documentation and immunization requirements is mandatory
