Description
Registered Nurse - Med Surg
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Nights (19:00 - 07:30)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (flexible, must be indicated on submission)
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
Call Requirements: None

- Specialty: Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Neuro Surgical Recovery
- Unit Beds: 30
- Patient Ratios:
- Day Shift: 1:5-6
- Night Shift: 1:6-7 (not guaranteed, varies by circumstance)
- Patient Types: Surgical (GI, GU, Plastics, Overflow Orthopedics)
- Equipment Used: Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo enteral feeding pumps, wound vacs, SCD machines, PCA pumps, low air loss mattresses, remote telemetry monitors
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience in an inpatient setting within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
- Maintain professional accountability and patient confidentiality
- Utilize nursing process consistent with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and professional standards
- Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, bending, stooping, lifting and turning patients with assistance, and exposure to blood and body fluids
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required

- Physically demanding with requirements to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs, pinch up to 15 lbs, kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
