Registered Nurse – Telemetry

Location: Joplin, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours (flexible between 36 or 48 hours)

Job Summary

Provide nursing care on a telemetry unit specializing in cardiac medical patients. The unit cares for post cardiac catheterization patients, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, stable myocardial infarction patients, pacemaker insertions, and other medical cardiac cases.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• Experience in Stepdown and ICU (Intensive Care Unit) settings
• Experience in an acute care setting
• Competence with insulin drips (gtts), precedex, titrating nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and BiPAP
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with post-op surgical patients and trauma in a Stepdown unit
• Strong teamwork skills, flexibility, dependability, and a hardworking attitude

Unit Information

• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Equipment used: IV pumps, glucometer, GE monitoring equipment, computers
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
• Typical patients: Post cardiac cath, Afib, CHF, medical cardiac overflow, stable MI, pacemaker insertion, non-titrated cardiac drips

Additional Details

• Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (exemptions require approval)
• Weekend and call requirements as needed by the facility
• Dress code: Black scrubs or M-wear only
• Must maintain patient confidentiality and professional accountability
• Flexible scheduling with possible blocked scheduling pending facility approval
• Return to work within 5 days of offer required; any schedule changes must be approved

• Specialty experience: 2+ years in acute care Stepdown or ICU
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
