Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) - Cath Lab

Location: San Luis Obispo, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Cath Lab RN for a travel contract position. The role primarily involves Electrophysiology (EP) cases and requires significant EP experience. The position is based in a Cath Lab & Interventional Radiology (IR) unit with 3 suites/labs.

Work Environment & Details

Average cases per day: 10
EMR/Equipment: Cerner, Mac Lab
Charge Nurse role available
Cath Lab/IR Techs on staff: 10
Weekend Requirement for RNs: 2 RNs every weekend (48 hours)
Call Requirement for RNs: 1 night per week and 1 weekend per month (48 hours)
RN response time for call: >30 minutes
Holidays: Shared among staff
Scrubs provided
Telemetry and ventilator support available
Cardiologist on call: Usually 1 night per week and shared weekend call
Vascular Access Team available
Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
Pharmacy on call after 8 PM (not 24/7)
Shifts:
- AM: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Mid: 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- PM: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
No floating required
Floor-specific orientation provided
Common cases include IR and Cardiac procedures, hours roughly 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab nursing experience, with strong EP experience preferred
Active California RN license
Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
NIH certification

Additional Notes

Preferred but not required: RCIS certification for cath lab techs
Call response time for techs: >30 minutes
Weekend and call requirements also apply to technologists
