Job Opportunity: RN Surgery

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Rotating shifts: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (06:30 AM - 5:00 PM), flexible based on OR volume
• Call schedule: 2-3 weeknights and weekends as needed
• Holiday call: rotating with regular staff
• Responsibilities may include floating onsite within skill set or to nearby sites within 40 miles if needed
• Experience with robotic surgery and scrub nurse duties is helpful
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system preferred

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with robotic surgery or robot-assisted procedures
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references
• Completion of specialty and core competency exams with passing scores
• Documentation of required immunizations and health screenings, including:

  • MMR (2 doses or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 doses or immunity evidence)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (mask required if declined)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years)
  • TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest x-ray if positive)
• Fit test for N95 respirators (specific mask models required)
• Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
• Criminal background check and employment verifications
• Driver’s license or state ID (must be current and valid)
• Completion of onboarding education and training modules, including Epic test-out and specialty checklists

Additional Information

• Must be able to pass health statement or physical exam prior to assignment and annually thereafter
• Must complete annual updates for certain certifications and health requirements
• Clinical skills checklist and unit-specific checklists required
• Ability to work flexible hours and float as needed within the region

This position is ideal for experienced OR nurses with prior travel nursing experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment with rotating shifts and call responsibilities.
