Job Opportunity: RN Step Down
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule.
- Requires 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit), Med-Surg Telemetry, or Acute Care.
- Placement will be on a unit with the greatest need, which may be PCU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry units based on the nurse’s skills.
- Accepts RNs with Med-Surg or Stepdown experience (credentialing is the same for both).
- Must be willing and able to float within skill set to other units onsite or to sites within 40 miles if needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit), including experience within the last year.
- Experience in Med-Surg and Telemetry nursing.
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Documented proof of two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Fit test required prior to or at start (specific mask types required).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Varicella immunity documented by vaccine, serology, or history (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
- Annual criminal background check and employment verifications as required.
Professional Documentation Required for Submission
- Current RN license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Resume or professional profile.
- At least two professional references.
- Driver’s license or state ID (must not be expired and address must comply with licensing rules).
- Specialty exam demonstrating competency in the area of specialization (minimum 80% passing score).
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics, etc. (minimum 80% passing score).
- EKG exam with passing score of at least 80%.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work.
Additional Onboarding Requirements
- Completion of onboarding modules and attestations specific to nursing contingent workers.
- Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background).
- Various health screenings and compliance checks as outlined above.
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Floating to other units or nearby sites may be necessary based on staffing needs.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with a strong background in step-down, PCU, or med-surg telemetry nursing who are flexible and able to adapt to different unit needs.
