Description
Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Telemetry (Night Shift)
Location: Fort Madison, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Care for patient populations including Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry.
- Must self-study telemetry strips before starting; a dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to continue on the unit.
- May be placed on call occasionally during low census periods; must be able to respond and arrive onsite within one hour if called in.
- Experience with Cerner EMR required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical records system.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Credentials & Compliance
- COVID-19 Vaccine (declination accepted)
- MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; declination accepted
- Influenza Vaccine: Required annually by December 1 (Sept 1 – March 31 season); facility declination accepted
- TB Test: Negative test within past year (TSPOT or QuantiFERON IGG) or documentation if history of positive test
- Fit Test: Completed prior to start; acceptable masks specified
- Health Statement: Physician statement within last 12 months
- Background Check: Within 30 days of start, including SS trace and county search for last 7 years
- Adult and Child Abuse clearance as per state requirements
- Education Verification: Verified through third party; diploma/transcripts may be required
- Drug Screen: 9-panel within 30 days of start (THC not required)
- Skills Checklist: Completed within last 12 months
- Resume/Profile submission required
- I-9 Attestation on agency letterhead
- Color Vision test
- Contract Employee Data Sheet
- National and State Offender Searches within 30 days of start
- Pre-Orientation Computer-Based Learning (CBL) Acknowledgement
- References: 2 professional references required, including 1 supervisor
Additional Information
- This is a night shift position.
- Traveler must be able to pass a dysrhythmia test during the first week to continue working on the telemetry/med-surg unit.
- Occasional on-call availability may be required with a one-hour response time.
