Job Opportunity: RN First Assist

Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week (4x10s).
• On-call: Two days per week from 5 PM (or end of shift) to 7 PM, plus one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) every 3 weekends. Weekend call is 24 hours.
• Role: Assist the surgeon in a lead role until the conclusion of the operative procedure. May also circulate at times.
• Work under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Operating Room, following established policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 5 years of diversified peri-operative nursing experience.
• First Assist experience totaling 5 years, including experience within the last year.
• Proficiency in scrubbing and circulating.
• Recent perioperative nursing experience.

Additional Requirements

• Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination.
  • TB test within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test) and updated if break >6 months.
  • Physician health statement within 1 year of start date and updated if break >6 months.
  • Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year and updated annually (no exemptions allowed).
  • Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required.
• Background checks including:

  • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start and updated if break >6 months.
  • Massachusetts CORI check within 30 days prior to start and updated if break >6 months.
  • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.
  • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start and annually.
• Submission of:

  • Resume with past 7 years of work experience including city and state.
  • Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
  • Skills checklist completed within 1 year.
  • Candidate submission coversheet.
  • Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start date (no conditional licenses accepted).
