    Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse

    Location: San Francisco, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Description

    Provide comprehensive patient- and family-centered care within the scope and standards of professional nursing practice. This role is for a PCU/Stepdown RN working in an 8-bed MST overflow unit.

    Shift:

    • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
    • Rotating weekends
    • No on-call requirements

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid RN license in California
    • Minimum 1 year of Stepdown nursing experience within the last year
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
    • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
    • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
    • Medication Administration by IV Push (MAB) certification
    • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
    • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

    Background and Compliance Requirements

    • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
    • Annual updates for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS Level 3 screening
    • Education verification (highest level achieved) required
    • Sex offender search within 90 days of start
    • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work
    • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or facial hair)
    • Immunizations and titers required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
      • Hepatitis B series or declination
      • Varicella immunity or vaccination
      • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
    • Respiratory safety clearance required annually
    • References: 2 professional references within 3 years (Aya requirement, not client)
    • Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps; employment verification required

    Additional Requirements

    • Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually
    • Competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, telemetry)
    • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and others prior to start
    • TB questionnaire completed and signed by healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually
    • Compliance with state-specific Medi-Cal search if FACIS III cannot be run

    • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
