Job Description

• Role: Circulating Operating Room nurse with on-call as needed.
• Responsibilities include:

  • Performing routine assignments and developing competence through structured work assignments.
  • Assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
  • Delivering holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
  • Collaborating effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers.
  • Adhering to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, laws, regulations, and codes to ensure a quality patient experience.
  • Engaging in continuous professional growth and development.
• Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW) required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room (OR) Circulating nurse experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
• Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Verification and Certification Requirements:

  • National Tech Certification Verification
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • Miscellaneous relevant certifications as applicable

Experience

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent OR Circulating experience
• Prior travel experience: Not required (no explicit mention).

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
• Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screening.
• Education verification required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to CA law).
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask test required within 1 year of start and must be renewed annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination as per policy
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or approved declination
• Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually.

Documentation and Compliance

• Must complete and sign facility-specific documents including:

  • Job description acknowledgment
  • Standards of business conduct
  • Code of conduct
  • Vendor training (current year)
  • Conditional offer of employment attestation
  • TB screening questionnaire (within 90 days of start)
  • Religious accommodation forms if applicable
• Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
• References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical positions.

Additional Notes

• Candidate must be able to work every other week and be available for on-call assignments.
• Must maintain compliance with all background checks, certifications, immunizations, and health screenings throughout the assignment.
• Facility policies and procedures must be reviewed and adhered to prior to start.
