Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in the Operating Room, assisting with vascular surgery and hybrid imaging procedures. Work collaboratively with a team of nurses and surgical techs for both endovascular and open cases. Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for all age groups, ensuring professional accountability and coordination with ancillary departments.
Schedule & Work Details
- Shift: Days, 4x10 hour shifts (06:30 - 17:00)
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
- Weekend Hours: As required by facility
- Call Requirements: Approximately 5 or fewer calls per 8 weeks
- Float Requirements: As required by facility
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Experience working with Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma patients
Preferred Qualifications
- Multiple years of Level 1 trauma experience

- Patient Ratios: 1:1
- Patient Types: Outpatient to critical care inpatient
- Equipment: Includes DaVinci robotic systems
- EMR System: EPIC
Skills & Abilities
- Strong human relations and communication skills
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in OR nursing
- Highly motivated self-starter
Physical & Working Conditions
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
- Work primarily in a clean, air-conditioned environment
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 to April 1 (no declinations accepted)
- Dress code includes black scrubs; unprofessional attire such as jeans is not allowed
Overview
This role requires adherence to nursing practice standards, state nurse practice acts, and organizational codes of conduct and values. The nurse will maintain patient rights and confidentiality while providing high-quality care in a Level 1 trauma center environment.
