Description
Registered Nurse - PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in a 12-bed Pediatric ICU unit, working primarily night shifts (1830-0700) with 36 guaranteed hours per week. Nurses may be required to float to NICU, Pediatric medical floor, or Pediatric ED depending on patient volume. No call requirements. Weekend hours as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience, including experience within the last year
- At least 1 year post-orientation experience in PICU
- Certifications: BLS, PALS issued by American Heart Association, TNCC
Unit & Patient Information
- Patient Ratios: ICU status 2:1, Intubated 1:1, Pediatric status 3:1
- Patient Types: Trauma, Burn, Neurosurgery, Pediatric surgery, Respiratory, Sepsis, Endocrinology, Chronic/trach, Hematology/Oncology, Orthopedics
- EMR system: EPIC
Work Environment & Expectations
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires full week availability
- Must adhere to professional dress code (black scrubs; no jeans or unprofessional attire)
- Physical demands include standing/walking most of the shift, lifting/pushing patients, and occasional kneeling/crouching
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional accountability
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
Additional Notes
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required from November 1 to April 1; declinations not accepted
- Looking for experienced, flexible, and team-oriented nurses
