Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Medical/Surgical/Telemetry)
Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Job Description
- Acute Care Float Pool RN position.
- Must be willing to float to all medical-surgical floors including:
- Orthopedics
- Medical-Surgical
- Neurology Step Down
- Oncology
- Surgical Telemetry
- Medical-Surgical Telemetry
- Must be willing to float to an additional campus approximately 9.5 miles away.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Current and valid RN license verification dated within 30 days of start.
- Fit test for respiratory protection.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no THC).
- Specialty-specific competency testing completed within the last year.
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- COVID-19 vaccine with booster proof or approved exemption.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or immunity proof.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series initiated prior to start.
- Influenza vaccine or approved declination.
- Varicella vaccination or immunity proof.
- Tdap vaccine or approved declination (declination accepted if no pediatric interaction).
- Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA) with chest x-ray if positive, per regional requirements.
- Physical/health statement confirming fitness to work within the last year.
Background and Professional Screening
- Federal, nationwide, and county criminal background check covering the last 7 years, including SSN verification.
- Education verification of highest academic degree or diploma.
- Various professional compliance forms and disclosures, including code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, conflict of interest, and audit services forms.
- Employment eligibility verification (I-9).
- Exclusion and sanction screenings (OIG, EPLS, OFAC).
- Child and adult dependent abuse registry checks (Iowa-specific).
- System access and security agreement forms.
Additional Notes
- Resume and skills checklist within the last year required for submission.
- Must be willing to work flexible assignments across multiple specialty areas and locations.
- This is a clinical role requiring demonstrated competency in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with a variety of medical-surgical and telemetry patient populations and flexible floating assignments.
