Description
Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry
Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Care for patient populations including Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry.
- Positions available on Medical Surgical Unit and Telemetry Unit.
- Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to work on the Telemetry/Med Surg unit.
- Estimated workweek is 36 hours with possible overtime.
- Cerner EMR experience required.
- Occasional on-call availability may be required during low census periods; if called in, must respond and arrive onsite within one hour.
- ACLS certification required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical records system
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- COVID-19 Vaccine (declination accepted)
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
- Tdap (valid for 10 years; declination accepted)
- Influenza Vaccine (required annually by 12/01; vaccine or facility declination accepted)
- TB Test (negative test within past year; if history of positive, must provide documentation)
- Fit Test for approved respirators (completed prior to start)
- Health Statement (physician statement within last 12 months)
- Background Check (within 30 days of start, including SS trace and county search for last 7 years)
- Adult and Child Abuse clearance (state requirement)
- Education Verification (third-party verification required)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG check (within 30 days of start)
- Drug Screen (9 panel within 30 days of start; THC not required)
- Skills Checklist (completed within 12 months)
- Resume/Profile submission
- I-9 Attestation (completed on agency letterhead)
- Color Vision test
- Contract Employee Data Sheet
- NSO and OFAC checks (within 30 days of start)
- OSHA Questionnaire (candidate completed)
- Pre-Orientation Computer-Based Learning (CBL) Acknowledgement
Work Environment
- Medical Surgical and Telemetry units

This position is suitable for experienced RNs with Medical/Surgical and Telemetry skills who are comfortable with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and working in a fast-paced hospital environment. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
