Job Opportunity: Infusion Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Assist with expanding hours at an Outpatient Infusion Center
- Provide infusion services primarily for oncology patients
- Also assist with non-oncology infusions such as blood transfusions and injections
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 4 shifts of 10 hours each (8:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- No weekends or on-call required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 1 year of infusion nursing experience within the last year
- Oncology infusion nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Chemotherapy certification from Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications & Competencies
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA or ARC
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA or ARC (verify by position)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA/AAP (verify by position)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) (verify by position)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) (verify by position)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) (verify by position)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (may be required for some telemetry units)
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Employment history verification covering 7 years with no gaps over 30 days
- References: 2 professional references required (within 3 years)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually
Additional Requirements
- Education verification (highest level achieved) required; BSN preferred
- Official transcripts/diplomas may be required if verification attempts are unsuccessful
- Must review and sign facility-specific policies and regulatory orientation documents prior to start
- TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter
- Must comply with dress code and standards of business conduct
