Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in the Operating Room, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for all age groups (adults and pediatrics). Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort and outcomes. Function within the scope of nursing practice and applicable state regulations.
Work Schedule
- Shift: Days (06:30 AM – 3:00 PM), Monday through Friday
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend and call hours as required by the facility
- Float to Main OR as needed
Unit Information
- Number of ORs: 8
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 in OR
- EMR System: EPIC
- Patient Population: Multidisciplinary services covering adults and pediatrics
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in OR nursing, including possible experience with conscious sedation
- Strong communication and human relations skills
- Ability to stand and walk most of the shift, lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
- Physical ability to push, pull, grip up to 50 lbs, pinch up to 15 lbs, and perform minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
Professional Expectations
- Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care and maintain professional accountability
- Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers
- Coordinate patient care with other departments
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
- Adhere to nursing practice guidelines and state nurse practice act
Dress Code
- Scrubs provided by facility (black color)
- Professional attire required; jeans and unprofessional attire are not acceptable
Additional Notes
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel assignments from November 1 to April 1 (declinations not accepted)
