Registered Nurse (RN) - Stepdown Unit (Days)
Location: Petoskey, Michigan

Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Registered Nurse (RN) uses clinical judgment to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. This role is a critical member of the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), which cares for cardiology patients undergoing procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers. The unit also manages post-op open heart surgery patients (18-24 hours post-op), congestive heart failure, and electrophysiology studies. The CVU has received recognition for excellence in patient care and outcomes.
The Stepdown Unit (Level 2 North) is a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit with a diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients. It is a fast-paced environment focused on patient safety, quality care, and positive outcomes. The unit promotes teamwork, shared governance, and supports new nurses through orientation and professional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Stepdown Unit experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Prior travel nursing experience (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
Important Policies
- Strict 3-strike attendance policy: More than 3 absences or being over 20 minutes late for a scheduled shift will result in immediate termination, except for documented communicable disease or hospitalization.
- Michigan license verification required; any license issues should be documented for review.
- Physical copies of certifications only required if specifically listed.
- Full-time employees of the employer are not eligible for contract hire within six months of employment.
