Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - NICU
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights
- Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours available
- Unit uses a self-scheduling model (manager will explain; no guaranteed schedule)
- Work setting: Children's hospital
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Required Certifications
- RRT
- BLS
- NRP
- ACCS (preferred)
Additional Requirements
- No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed for 5/25 and 7/4 holidays
- Must be able to obtain necessary background checks and verifications including:
- 7-year criminal background check
- Education verification (official transcripts required)
- Drug screening (10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl)
- Immunizations and health screenings (including TB, Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B)
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
- Compliance with professional appearance and facility-specific policies

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Candidate must be prepared to complete all required documentation and screenings prior to start.
- Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit assignment.
- This position involves working in a pediatric critical care environment.
This role is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with strong NICU backgrounds seeking a travel contract in a pediatric hospital setting.
