Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Assignment Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Unit: Medical 6B (Telemetry)
  • Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours (must be specified on submission)
  • Weekend Hours: As required by facility
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Number of Openings: 1
  • Patient Population: Medical, medical telemetry, respiratory patients
  • Unit Beds: 32
  • Patient Ratios: Vary by shift; days 1:5-1:6, nights 1:6-1:7 (not guaranteed)
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
  • Equipment Used: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
  • Float Requirements: Rotational basis

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year in an inpatient setting
  • Experience and competence in drug titration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for all age groups
  • Utilize the nursing process to care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort
  • Maintain professional accountability and evaluate care effectiveness of other direct caregivers
  • Uphold patient rights and confidentiality in accordance with nursing standards and state regulations
  • Adhere to facility mission, values, and service standards

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for most of the shift
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
  • Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.; pinch up to 15 lbs.; minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids considered high risk
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules and shifts as needed

Dress Code

  • Black scrubs only
  • No other scrub colors or attire permitted

Additional Notes

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations not accepted
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire orientation week
  • Flexible scheduling options available but must be indicated on submission form
  • Time off requests (RTO) cannot be approved during the first week of assignment; holiday RTO limited to one per assignment
