Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Assignment Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort and outcomes.
  • Utilize the nursing process to care for patients post-trauma, surgical interventions, and with medical comorbidities.
  • Maintain professional accountability and uphold patient rights and confidentiality.
  • Work within the scope of nursing practice consistent with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and professional standards.

Unit Information

  • Unit: Medical 6B (Telemetry)
  • Number of Beds: 32
  • Patient Ratios: Vary by shift; days 1:5-1:6, nights 1:6-1:7 (not guaranteed)
  • Equipment: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
  • Patient Types: Medical, medical telemetry, respiratory

Schedule & Hours

  • Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
  • Weekend Hours: As required by facility
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year

Skills & Experience

  • Competence in drug titration
  • Experience with telemetry patient care
  • Ability to float on a rotational basis within the unit

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing and walking during shifts
  • Physical demands include bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
  • Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs., pinch up to 15 lbs., and perform minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high-risk factor
  • May require working varied schedules and shifts based on patient care needs

Additional Requirements

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
  • Dress code: Black scrubs only
