Description
Job Opportunity: RN - Wound Care
Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: Approximately 14 weeks
Job Summary
- Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence care.
- Perform focused physical assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care; assist in selecting supplies, technology, and equipment.
- Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments.
- Evaluate quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members and make referrals as needed.
- Teach, counsel, and assist patients and families in preventing complications related to wounds, ostomies, or continence issues.
- Develop and provide staff education programs including orientation, in-services, and continuing education.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures.
- Communicate challenges including ethical and conflict resolution issues.
- Participate in quality improvement activities at unit and hospital levels.
- Provide culturally competent education to patients, families, and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient data.
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain clinical competency.
- Identify and refer clients to community resources.
- Manage assets related to rented equipment such as specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Certification in wound care such as CWOCN, CWON, CWCN, CWS, or WCC
- Experience in wound care and colostomy care
