RN Medical/Surgical - Wichita, Kansas
Job Details
- Specialty: Medical/Surgical Nursing
- Location: Wichita, Kansas
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Every other weekend; no on-call required
- Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner OneChart
- Uniform: Blue scrubs
- Floating: May be required to float to similar units on the same or different campus within Wichita
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kansas
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Health and Immunizations:
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive immunity titer; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or verified history; no declinations accepted
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, mask required
- TB Testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required
- Fit Test: Required annually; preferred before start, can be completed onsite (PAPR not done onsite)
- Drug Screening: 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Color Vision Test: Completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
Training and Competency
- Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% passing score; updated every 3 years
- EKG Exam: Must pass with at least 80%; updated every 3 years
- Cerner Test-Out: Completion of Cerner training and test with signed attestation required
- Skills Checklist: Clinical skills checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually
- MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training: Required
Documentation and Verification
- Resume/Profile: Required for submission
- License/Certificate Verification: Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
- Criminal Background Check: Includes Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
- Employment Verification: Past seven years; updated annually or after break in service >90 days
- Education Verification: Relevant clinical education verified within 90 days prior to start; updated after break in service >90 days
- Assignment Agreement: Signed agreement required prior to onboarding
- Onboarding Requirements: Includes education attestation, contract worker onboarding, and pre-hire modules
- Driver’s License/State ID: Must be current and match address on file; required for submission

- Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background; no alterations or filters
- Assignment Confirmation: Provided upon initial assignment and updated with extensions
- Name Change Documentation: If applicable, legal documentation required
This position requires flexibility to float within similar units and adherence to comprehensive onboarding and compliance standards to ensure patient safety and quality care.
