Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgery

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Work schedule consists of 4 shifts per week, each 10 hours long (07:00 - 17:30).
  • Includes 1 weekday on-call shift from the end of the shift until 7 AM the next day.
  • Includes 1 weekend on-call shift (Saturday or Sunday) every 5 weeks.
  • Must remain within 30 minutes of the hospital while on call.
  • Facility is a Level 3 trauma center.

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association.
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association.

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience.
  • Med Surg experience within the last year.
  • Operating Room (OR) experience.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccine series preferred but not required (medical or religious exemptions accepted).
  • MMR: Positive titers within last 15 years required; booster protocol allowed if low titer.
  • Varicella: Positive titers within last 15 years required; booster protocol allowed if low titer.
  • Tdap vaccination within the last 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of full series, partial series with signed declination, or positive titers within 15 years accepted.
  • Influenza vaccine required during flu season (October–March) or must complete masking and declination forms.
  • 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with negative results within last 6 months; annual requirement. If positive, clear chest X-ray and current TB questionnaire required.
  • Fit test for N95 respirators completed within 1 year prior to start; updated annually.
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start confirming ability to work without restrictions.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Completed I-9 or attestation confirming eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Ohio fingerprint background checks:
    • If resident in Ohio ≥5 years: Ohio BCI&I and FCRA-compliant national criminal background check.
    • If resident <5 years: Ohio BCI&I and FBI fingerprint check (FCRA-compliant).
    • Attestation allowed if fingerprints pending, with proof of completion.
  • Criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including social security trace and county searches for last 7 years, national sex offender search.
  • OIG exclusion check within 6 months prior to start.
  • SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC screening within 6 months prior to start.
  • Drug screen within 60 days prior to start (10-panel, lab report required; instant screens not accepted). New screen required if break in assignment >60 days.
  • Education verification through third-party; attestations not allowed.
  • Employment verification for last 5 years through third-party; attestations not allowed.
  • Skills checklist specific to clinical area completed within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement).
  • Competency exam with minimum 80% score within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement).
  • Core competencies exam with minimum 80% score within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement).
  • Completion of required safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; renewal annually.
  • Badge photo (headshot, shoulders up, plain background) required prior to start.
  • Non-expired photo ID (driver’s license or state ID) required.

Submission Requirements

  • Resume including education and work history.
  • Two professional references from within the last 2 years.
  • Completed job application form.
  • Employment history form confirming previous employment at the hospital system (if applicable).

This position requires a dedicated RN with surgery experience, able to work extended shifts with on-call responsibilities, and meet comprehensive health, licensure, and background verification standards.
