Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER
Location: Tracy, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) department.
- Minimum commitment: every other weekend.
- No guaranteed block or grouped shifts.
- Local block differs from typical assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
- Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
- Current certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification (except if highest education is high school), and international search if applicable.
- FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law).
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
- Two professional references required (within 3 years) for clinical candidates.
Certifications & Competencies
- Certifications must be from AHA or ARC unless otherwise specified.
- Additional certifications may be required depending on position specifics (e.g., Neonatal Resuscitation, Trauma Nursing Core Course, Electronic Fetal Monitoring).
- Competency exams (medication/pharmacology, telemetry, dysrhythmia/EKG) may be required as applicable.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training may be required; MAB can be completed onsite during orientation.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually; religious exemptions considered case-by-case.
- Immunizations and/or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B series or declination
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 90 days or 2-step PPD; annual renewal required.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination with mask-wearing requirement.
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Candidate must review and sign facility policies and documents prior to start, including:
- Job description
- Standards of Business Conduct
- Vendor Training (2024 and 2025 versions as applicable)
- Code of Conduct (2024 and 2025 versions as applicable)
- Overpayment Refund Policy (2024 and 2025 versions as applicable)
- TB Screening Questionnaire (within 90 days, renewed annually)
- Dress Code Policy (review only)
- Religious exemption forms required for facial hair (PAPR) and vaccine exemptions; approvals handled case-by-case.
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge required for per diem only.
- Personal or auto insurance only required for driving/home health positions.
- No guaranteed block or grouped shifts.
- Minimum commitment includes working every other weekend.
