Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location

• Pratt, Kansas

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• Day shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday
• Call required every 5th or 6th weekend and one weekday

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
• Must be proficient in Orthopedics (total joints), General Surgery, and Obstetrics

Required Licensure and Certifications

• Valid Kansas RN license
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Specialty Skills and Procedures

• Experience with Orthopedics, Gynecology, Podiatry, General Surgery, Endoscopy, Labor and Delivery including C-sections

Prior Travel Experience

• Not a first-time traveler; prior travel experience required

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Proof of I9 or attestation
• Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
• Valid driver’s license copy (time sensitive)
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, federal criminal felony & misdemeanor, SSN trace, sex offender, national criminal, and DMV search (within 1 year of start)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• Physical exam within 12 months confirming ability to meet physical demands and clearance from communicable diseases
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or documentation if past positive)
• Required immunizations or titers: Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Flu vaccine mandatory during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31) unless medically exempt
• COVID-19 vaccine not required; declination or exemption accepted on facility form
• Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel) within 12 months

Required Training and Competencies

• Unit-specific competency exams (must pass with at least 80%)
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% passing score)
• OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission annual training (proof or testing required)
• Facility-specific training videos and modules must be completed prior to start
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• Restraints training with return demonstration prior to arrival
• Suicide and behavioral risk assessment training prior to arrival
• Administration of PRN medications training prior to arrival

References and History

• Two professional clinical references required
• Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility for over 1 year
• Skills checklist must be signed and updated annually

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Minimum 3 years of OR Circulate experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience in Orthopedics
• Experience in OB/GYN
