Operating Room Registered Nurse Travel Job - Pratt, Kansas
Position Details
- Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN Circulator)
- Location: Pratt, Kansas
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM (40 hours/week)
- Call Requirements: Call every 5th or 6th weekend plus one weekday
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Kansas RN license
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kansas
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Orthopedics
- Experience in OB/GYN
Prior Travel Experience
- Not a first-time traveler (prior travel experience required)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Proof of identity: Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during work hours)
- Background checks:
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Federal criminal felony & misdemeanor check
- Social Security trace, sex offender registry, DMV search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated every contract renewal)
- Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months
- Physical exam within 12 months confirming ability to meet physical demands and clearance to work, free of communicable diseases
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or appropriate documentation if previously positive)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via titer or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination
- Varicella immunity via titer or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccine mandatory during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31) unless medically exempt
- COVID-19 vaccine not required; declination or exemption accepted on facility form
- References: Two professional clinical references required
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable, including pharmacology exam (minimum 80% passing score)
- Completion of facility-specific training modules and acknowledgment of confidentiality and performance standards prior to start
Additional Notes
- Must review and sign confidentiality agreement and standards of performance before starting
- Required to complete facility-specific training videos and modules prior to assignment
- Candidate must review and complete training on restraints, suicide and behavioral risk assessment, and administration of PRN medications before arrival
- Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgment and annual OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission training attestations or testing
- Must carry a headshot photo for badge issuance
This position offers a structured weekday schedule with call responsibilities and requires a well-rounded OR nurse with orthopedic, general surgery, and OB experience. Compliance with extensive credentialing, health, and background requirements is mandatory.
