Description
Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Travel Assignment
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (1900 - 0730)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
Call Requirements: None
Unit & Patient Care Information
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Neuro Surgical Recovery
- Unit Beds: 30
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6-7 on night shift (not guaranteed)
- Patient Types: Surgical patients including GI, GU, Plastics, and Orthopedic overflow
- Equipment Used: Alaris IV pumps, Kangaroo enteral feeding pumps, wound vacs, SCD machines, PCA pumps, low air loss mattresses, remote telemetry monitors
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical inpatient experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Oncology and Neurosurgery
- BLS certification from AHA required
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
- Adhere to Missouri Nurse Practice Act and professional standards
- May float to other units based on staffing needs
- Physical demands include standing/walking most of the shift, bending, stooping, lifting/turning patients with assistance, and occasional kneeling or crouching
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is a risk
Orientation & Scheduling Notes
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for the entire orientation week is required
- Flexible scheduling options available but must be indicated on submission
- Holiday time off requests limited to one per assignment
Work Environment & Culture
- Patient-focused, team-oriented unit culture
- Dress code: Black scrubs (Mercy M Wear) only; other attire not accepted
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccination required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1; no declinations accepted
