Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU
Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility & Unit Overview
- 47-bed acute care facility
- 3-bed PACU unit on the 3rd floor
- Patient population primarily adult; ENT cases once a month
- Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
- Electronic Health Records (EHR): CQI, Medhost
- Trauma Level: Not applicable
Position Details
- Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Preoperative (Preop)
- Number of Openings: 1
- Shift: Days with some call on nights and weekends
- Weekly Hours: Approximately 36-40 hours
- Call Requirements: Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of notification
- Float Requirements: Shared position with Preop only; no other float expectations
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in both Preop and PACU settings
Common Diagnoses/Treatments
- Appendectomy (Appy)
- Gallbladder procedures
Work Environment & Dress Code
- Scrubs required; no open-toed shoes or fake fingernails allowed
Additional Notes
- Candidates must submit a full application packet including resume, self-assessment, and skills checklist
- On-call coverage includes nights and weekends as needed
