Job Opportunity: CVICU RN (Night Shift)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care for cardiac medical and cardiothoracic/vascular surgery ICU patients.
  • Required experience with Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), and Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD).
  • Experience with NxStage dialysis equipment is preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana.
  • Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience.
  • CVICU experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Professional credentials including resume/profile and at least two professional references.
  • License verification through Nursys within 30 days prior to start.
  • Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documentation.
  • Completion of specialty and pharmacology competency exams with minimum 80% passing score (only two attempts allowed).
  • Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and National Patient Safety Goals.
  • EKG competency exam with minimum 80% passing score.
  • Color vision test.
  • Nursing contingent worker onboarding and education attestation.
  • Badge photo (forward-facing, white or blue background, no alterations).
  • Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, and National Sex Offender registry.
  • Employment and education verifications.
  • Skills checklist for specialty, updated annually.
  • Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Health and immunization requirements:
    • MMR: documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations).
    • Varicella: documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history (no declinations).
    • Tdap: valid within 10 years (no declinations).
    • Hepatitis B: vaccination series completion or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine is optional but mask required if declined during flu season.
    • Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA with chest X-ray if positive, plus annual TB questionnaire.
    • Fit test for respiratory protection, preferably completed prior to start.
  • Statement of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • Driver’s license or state ID matching address requirements.

  • This is a night shift position in a cardiovascular intensive care unit.
  • The assignment length is approximately 13 weeks.
  • Competency with advanced cardiac assist devices is mandatory.
  • NxStage dialysis experience is a plus but not required.
  • All certifications and verifications must be current and compliant with facility standards.
