Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (must be specified on submission)
Weekend Hours: As required by facility
Call Requirements: None
Unit & Patient Care Information
- Unit: Medical Telemetry (32 beds)
- Patient Ratios (varies):
- Days: 1:5 to 1:6
- Nights: 1:6 to 1:7 (not guaranteed)
- Patient Population: Medical or medical telemetry patients, including those with developmental delays
- Equipment Used: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
- Float: Rotational basis within the unit
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Competence and experience in drug titration
Skills & Experience
- Competence in drug titration
- Experience with inpatient telemetry patients
- Ability to provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordination of patient care with ancillary departments
- Maintains patient rights and confidentiality
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Exposure to blood and body fluids is a high risk
- Must be flexible to work varying schedules and shifts as needed
Additional Information
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week
- Dress code: Black scrubs only; no other scrub colors allowed
- Time off requests (RTO) must be made after the first week; only one holiday RTO allowed per assignment
- Must demonstrate a determined, decisive, and flexible personality fit
