Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

Location: Holyoke, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process: Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation.
• Develop nursing care plans in coordination with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
• Communicate changes in patient clinical condition with physicians, nursing supervisors/managers, and coworkers.
• Participate in discharge planning.

Unit Information

• Behavioral Health setting with 104 beds across five units (adult, pediatric ages 5-17, and geriatric).
• Patient ratios approximately 1:8, with lower ratios for pediatric and geriatric units.
• Night shift hours: 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36.
• Weekend work: Every other weekend.
• No call requirements.
• Float requirements: Yes.
• Electronic Health Record system: Cerner.
• Supervision by shift supervisors only.
• Scrub color: Blue.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Massachusetts
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient setting
• BLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Experience in behavioral health nursing.
• Comfortable working with adult, pediatric, and geriatric populations.
• Familiarity with common behavioral health diagnoses such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use disorder, and anxiety.

Personality Fit

• Must be willing to work across multiple age groups including adult and pediatric patients.

Additional Notes

• No trauma level designation for the unit.
• No specialized equipment required.
