Job Description

• Coordinate total nursing care for patients on medical-surgical and telemetry units.
• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
• Participate in patient and family teaching.
• Provide leadership by collaborating with ancillary nursing and other patient care team members to maintain professional nursing standards.
• Float between Acute Rehab, Med Surg, and any unit within scope of practice.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
• Average daily patient census: 22.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.
• Orientation: 8 hours non-billable.
• Call-back, holiday, and overtime multipliers apply.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license for Vermont or Compact RN license.
• Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing.
• Prior Charge RN experience is required.
• Previous travel nursing experience of at least 3 months is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Current American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Skills checklist for Medical Surgical nursing (current within 1 year).
• At least one supervisory-signed reference from the past two years of employment.
• Must have own vehicle due to lack of public transportation in the community.
• Permanent address must be included in the profile.
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at time of application; no RTO requests will be approved after offer. Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed.
• Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated to unit supervisor at least 1.5 hours in advance.

• Block scheduling requests will not be considered.
• 48-hour guarantee is not available.
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible.
• The facility is a small community hospital with 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
• The hospital offers acute care, transitional care, hospice, and physical therapy services including a therapeutic pool.
• Windsor, VT is a historic town with access to outdoor recreation and is within a 3-hour drive of Boston, Montreal, and New York.

Summary

This is a 13-week night shift assignment for an experienced Med Surg/Telemetry RN with charge experience and prior travel nursing background. The role requires flexibility to float across units, strong leadership skills, and adherence to strict attendance and scheduling policies. Candidates must be self-reliant with transportation due to limited local transit options.
